Natural Playgrounds and Outdoor Classrooms

At Forest Schools Birmingham we are very much aware that most of our children do not have free access to green spaces and wooded areas as many of us used to when we were children. To compound matters, we now live in a time where most of our children's play equipment and toys are made from materials which are not sustainable and therefore not recyclable. In a time when we are told we must plant trees and care for our natural environment, we seem to be stripping our children's play areas of trees and plants more and more...

We passionately believe in providing children spaces, in their school grounds, where they can explore, integrate and grow to love nature and watch the seasons unfold.

Our designs use only sustainable materials, incorporating many different textures, heights, vistas and structures.

...we believe in allowing child the freedom to climb.. but not a climbing frame.. we encourage hills and boulders..

...we aspire to show children the beauty in nature.. through experiencing beautiful living willows structures and sculptures in which they can play...

...we love our ancient heritage and love the beauty of standing stones and stone circles...

...we thrive on seeing children react to their environment so we favour wild flower areas as opposed to mown grass...

...we love to see blank oppressive walls made beautiful with stunning murals...

Our designs are tailor made to suit the needs of your school. When designing your grounds we combine your needs with our expertise in outdoor learning and grounds development. We strive to keep our prices affordable and we only work with ethical professionals to ensure a high quality, safe finished product.

"Nechells Education Action Zone funded a project with Forest Schools Birmingham to develop an inspirational and exciting outdoor learning area which would capture the imagination of children and young people and provide a safe place to play and learn. The result has far surpassed what we had planned and has had a positive impact on the lives of children and young people in Nechells. Forest Schools Birmingham involved us every step of the way and then worked their magic to transform a flat area of land into dolphin island, dolphin willow sculptures, wild flower area, story telling deck, wild hedgerow and stone sculpture area. They are a very professional organisation who are responsive to the requirements of their clients and offer a reliable and collaborative service built on a wealth of knowledge"
